IT Services at Beijing 2008

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games have been the most information intensive Olympic Games ever.
Top class athletes from around the world have broken 43 world records and 132 Olympic records during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, while behind scenes the IT team led by Atos Origin has smashed records of its own.

Atos Origin has successfully delivered the IT infrastructure that makes the Games happen and transmits the results worldwide in less than 0.3 seconds. The IT team and the scale of the IT infrastructure has been similar to that in Athens, yet in comparison to the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, the IT team has:

The massive IT infrastructure comprises:
Fully redundant data network
1,000 servers
1,000 network and security devices
10,000 computers
4,000 printers
4,800 result system terminals, including over 2,000 CIS (Commentator Information System) terminals and over 2,000 Intranet terminals (INFO2008)
200,000 hours of testing

My first 5K jogathon results

Filled with excitement, nervousness and pride participating in my very first 5K Jogathon after being regular at my jogging schedules daily I had confidence that though I may not end up winner but finish up the 5K track with out any hiccups.
Finally the moment was on and everyone started jogging competing each others I started running too!! keeping up my steady pace thinking I can increase my pace slowly after reaching a distance but there been few joggers who catch up a good pace at the start itself and maintained well distanced gap between us which we never could compete to overtake. And the same gap been through entire the race and they finally finished up winners and I end up 6th struggling and exhausted.
Anyway being winners or losers all just part of the game it was important gaining the experience running such long track and keeping up the spirits to run more such races and surely win some race later.

Me with my mates ready for the Jogathon
Ready Set Go..........
All exhausted, sweating & drooling!!!

Gonna run my first 5K Jogathon!!!

Stuck with flu, dizziness & body aches what else you would expect from any one who is getting ready to go on his/her first 5KM Jogathon (Jogging Marathon).
This is what my current situation is :( tomorrow 29
th Aug 2008 I'm gonna attend my very first 5K run organized by my corporate. After being so regular at jogging all these weeks which made every one knowing me to think that I'm one who is capable of running boosted up my confidence in taking part in the activity.
I wish somehow I get rid of this sickness and get fit for my run tomorrow (
jeeezzzzzzz)
Its gonna be really tough got really 30 participants in the event and though I jog regularly I never tried running 5K at a single stretch. I hope
i'll go through this get some good reputation among my colleagues and keep up my friends impression on me.

Shall update Jogathan status tomorrow.

Cheers For Abhinav!!

It was a very proud moment for every INDIAN as Abhinav Bindra shot his final shots in the Mens 10M Air Rifle Event making India win its first ever Gold medal in any individual event. Its been really long any INDIAN dreamt of winning a gold at Olympics in spite of having a population of more than 100billion next to CHINA :) India was always been on a lower stand in the matter of Olympics.

This was an awesome feat by Abhinav Bindra winning the very first Gold medal in Olympics 2008 truly mind blowing performance. I really wonder how he could be so emotion-less in spite of achieving Gold.

Anyway I wish him all the very success and more medals in future.....

Hats Off Abhinav!!!! Made us proud
